After registering a six-wicket win over Australia to begin their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign on a high, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India will take on Afghanistan next. The two sides will go head-to-head on October 11 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

While the side missed Shubman Gill in the tournament opener, as per reports doing rounds, he will continue to sit out in their next fixture too. The young Indian opener is recovering from dengue after he was tested positive on arrival in Chennai ahead of the match against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023.
“Shubman Gill is recovering and he will be travelling with the team to Delhi, he will be with the team and is not likely to go to his home Chandigarh for rest we hope that he will be back on the field before the match against Pakistan and playing against Afghanistan will depend on his next report,” a source was quoted by Times Now as reported by ANI.
Talking about the 24-year-old, Gill has been in terrific form in the 2023 calendar year. He has amassed 1230 runs and is the leading ODI run scorer, averaging 72.35 and a strike rate of 105.03.
