The Men in Blue earlier in the match won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first.  The Tom Latham-led side posted 273 in their 50 overs, courtesy a brilliant 150-plus run partnership between Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra. While Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, Shami finished with the figures of 5/54 in his first match of the CWC 2023.
