Less than a week left for the ODI World Cup 2023 to kick start in the Indian subcontinent and all teams are gearing for the event. All teams have begun their preparations as the teams are already locking horns in the warm-up games ahead of the marquee event, set to kick start from October 5.

But ahead of the start of the event, Bangladesh cricket team has already suffered a big blow. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan suffered a foot injury during the practice session last night and is missing the side’s first warm-up game against Sri Lanka. The 36-year-old is also set to miss the team’s second warm-up fixture, which is scheduled to take place on October 2 against England at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.   shakib al hasan

If reports are to be further believed, the Bangladesh skipper is likely to miss the team’s opening fixture at the World Cup 2023. The Bangla Tigers are set to play Afghanistan in their tournament opener at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on October 7.

Shakib Al Hasan to retire in 2023?

The Bangladesh veteran, Shakib Al Hasan recently hinted on his retirement. He asserted his plans to retire from Test following the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India, followed by T20I retirement around next year.
