The Men in Blue are all set to take on Australia in their Cricket World Cup opener in Chennai on October 5. The side will take on Pat Cummins-led Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai but ahead of this all-important clash the Men in Blue have been hit with a major blow.

Notably, in-form batter Shubman Gill has not travelled with the side to the stadium and will miss the opener against Australia. The young Indian batter is reportedly suffering from dengue since reaching Chennai and even missed the team’s net sessions. On Sunday, October 5, Gill continues to recover in time to get fit for his first World Cup.

Team India skipper, Rohit Sharma at the toss confirmed that Ishan Kishan will open the inning for the Men in Blue in Gill’ absence. Additionally, R Ashwin has also been named in the side for their World Cup opener.
