2024 Paris Olympics silver medallist and South Korean shooter, Kim Yeji is all set to make her on-screen debut in a series titled ‘Crush’. Notably, the series is a spinoff of a global film project “Asia” with the Seoul-based entertainment firm, Asia Lab handling the project.
The South Korean pistol shooter bagged a silver in the women’s 10m air pistol at the Olympic Games in Paris in July. Apart from her second-place finish at the Games, the 32-year-old went viral for her calm demeanour combined with her look where she was seen wearing wire-rimmed shooting glasses and baseball cap. Although, this will be her first work apart from her sporting brilliance, she has also been featured in a magazine photoshoot for famous fashion brand, Louis Vuitton.
Kim Yeji to play an assassin in ‘Crush’
The South Korean Olympian, who signed with the talent agency in August to manage her extracurricular activities, will play a role as an assassin in Crush, alongside Indian actor and influencer Anushka Sen. The 22-year-old Indian actor took to her official Instagram handle to share a video alongside Kim where the latter was seen teaching her the exact stance and position to aim the target.
Sen with the post announced her next on-screen assignment, where she can be seen clothed in black shining leather and straining with a pistol before Kim enters and adjusts her stance. “So happy to collaborate with @k_yeji92 (Kim ye ji) Olympics silver medalist; the most popular Korean shooting player in the world. Thank you @asialab.kr and @asialab_ceo for getting us together and planning this global project. And more surprises soon,” Sen captioned the post on Instagram.
Elon Musk showers praise on Kim Yeji; requests to make on-screen debut
Earlier in July, the Canadian-American businessman and CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter) also heaped praise on the South Korean pistol shooter, who went viral for her stance while aiming the target at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in July-August. Taking to X, Musk replied to her viral video at that time, writing, “She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!”
