Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka seemed unhappy with his team’s captain Rishabh Pant after Punjab Kings handed an eight-wicket drubbing to the home team, in match 13 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 played at the Ekana Stadium. PBKS chased down a target of 172 runs in just 16.2 overs and won their second match of the competition. Earlier, Lucknow batted first and got an unstable start after losing their openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram within the first powerplay. Following the departure of both batters, captain Rishabh Pant walked into the middle and his responsibility was to deliver an impactful innings to his side. However, the southpaw crumbled under pressure and lost his wicket after scoring only two off five.

After the massive defeat, Goenka was seen having an intense conversation with skipper Pant. The LSG owner was also seen pointing his finger towards the 27-year-old. The pictures of the chat have been doing rounds on social media and netizens are now comparing the latest conversation with KL Rahul’s chat with Goenka that happened in the 2024 season.

Lucknow will look to bounce back against Mumbai Indians

Following the heavy defeat at the hands of Punjab, LSG will strive to make a comeback against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Ekana Stadium on April 4. The pounding has impacted Lucknow’s net run rate (NRR) drastically as they are relegated to the sixth spot with one win and two defeats in three matches, with the NRR of -0.150.

MI looked confident in their previous contest against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), bagging an eight-wicket win at the Wankhede Stadium. However, playing in their den, Lucknow will endeavour to bring Mumbai back to the losing track.
