In a thrilling final at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, West Indies emerged as the T20 World Champions for the second time, defeating England on April 3, 2016. For the Windies, Carlos Brathwaite turned out to be the match winner after he smashed four consecutive sixes against Ben Stokes when 19 runs were needed in the last over to clinch the title. In just 10 deliveries, Brathwaith smashed 34* runs as West Indies became the first nation to win the T20 World Cup multiple times.

Talking about the match, batting first, England posted a total 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Joe Root was top-scorer with his knock of 54(36) runs, hitting seven boundaries, while Jos Buttler contributed with 36(22) runs with one four and three sixes. For West Indies, Carlos Brathwaite and Dwayne Bravo took three wickets, Samuel Badree took two while Andre Russell put one in his bag.

Chasing the winning target, West Indies had a disastrous start as they were reduced to 11/3 in 2.3 overs. After that, Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Bravo put up a partnership of 75 runs for the fourth wicket. After Bravo got out after scoring 25(27) runs, West Indies again started to lose wickets and were reduced to 107/6 in 15.3 overs.

After that, Carlos Brathwaite joined Marlon Samuel as the duo put up an unbeaten partnership of 54 runs to guide West Indies to a historic T20 World Cup win. Samuels was a top-scorer with 85*(66) runs, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Brathwatie smashed 34*(10) runs, hitting one four and those famous four sixes and West Indies won a thrilling final. This was their second T20 World Cup title after 2012.
