Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting is celebrating his 50th birthday on December 19, 2024. Known for his fierce batting and aggressive captaincy, Ponting etched his name as one of the greatest captains in the history of international cricket.   2. 2nd Fastest to 12000 runs in Test: Ricky Ponting joins Indian legend Sachin Tednulkar to score the fastest 12000 runs in Test cricket. Both the players reached the milestone in 247 innings each. However, Ponting played less matches than Sachin achieving the feat in the 146th Test match of his career against Pakistan at Leeds in 2010.
