After 24 years, 34357 runs and 100 centuries, glorious cricketing was finally coming to an end when Sachin Tendulkar donned the Indian jersey for one last time during a Test match against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 16, 2013. A player who became a backbone of the Indian cricket team for two decades played his 200th Test match and 664th across all formats to bid adieu to international cricket. 

Indian cricket was at its growing stage when Sachin Tendulkar made his debut at the age of 16 years in 1989. After that, the right-hander went on to become one of the most important players in Indian cricket history and the leading run scorer of all time across all formats in international cricket. Along with this, Sachin also completed his biggest dream when India won the ODI World Cup in 2011, which also turned out to be his last World Cup. Two years later, he decided to call off his cricketing career in front of his home crowd in Mumbai.

Having shattered so many records throughout his cricketing career, Sachin Tendulkar went on to make another record in his final international game of his career. At the age of 40 years, Sachin became the first player in history to play 200 Test matches in international cricket. He was also nearing his 101st international ton before he was dismissed by Narsingh Deonarine after scoring 74(118) runs in his final Test innings.

Sachin Tendulkar came to the field in an Indian jersey on the third day of the Test match as India went on to win the match by an innings and 126 runs giving him a perfect farewell. After the match, Sachin acknowledged the crowd with his emotional farewell speech with the people making wild chants of ‘Sachin Sachin.’ throughout his speech.
