Indian vice-captain and opening batter Shubman Gill was involved in a controversy as he took an incredible catch to dis miss Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis in the 3rd ODI. Playing at Colombo's R.Premadasa Stadium, the Men in Blue were asked to bowl first with the series on the line. After the Lankan top-order gave their side an incredible start, the Indian bowlers picked up a few quick wickets to get back into the contest.
Debutant all-rounder Riyan Parag started his international career with some crucial breakthroughs and then other Indian bowlers chipped in a few wickets. For Sri Lanka, Mendis held one end up and was batting well after completing his half-century. Then as the Lankan wicketkeeper tried to increase the rate of scoring, he attempted a pull shot which was caught brilliantly by Gill on the boundary.
After the dismissal was confirmed, Sri Lanka Cricket shared a post on social media where the Indian vice-captain's foot was touching the rope. With this post, a massive debate broke out on whether Kusal Medis was rightly out.
