The Bengal Tigers’ skipper won the toss and let his side post on the board first. While they were expecting to dominate the rivals right from the beginning, Babar Azam and his side showed no mercy to their opponents. Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Hasan for a duck, before they lost Nazmul Hossain Shanto at four runs.
The Pakistan bowling unit was in their best form as they went on to destroy the rival batting unit with their lethal bowling. Bangladesh’s next wicket came in the form of Mushfiqur Rahim before Litton Das walked back to the pavilion as he fell short of five runs from scoring another half century. Riding on Mahmudullah and skipper’s respective innings of 56 and 43, Bangladesh managed to get past the 200-run mark.
After a brilliant bowling display, the 1992 champions continued their dominance as openers Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman contributed 68 and 81 runs, respectively. While the Pakistan skipper failed to contribute much to the team’s score, the upper batting order stood together to achieve the target in just 33 overs. Zaman was awarded Player of the Match in a game that took his side to the fifth spot in the standings.
