As opposed to what was expected earlier, 'Pakistan 2023' will not be written on any team's jersey at the Asia Cup 2023. The 2023 Asia Cup will be the 16th edition of the Asia Cup, and it will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The name of the host country is generally written on the jerseys of all teams as a mark of respect, but after the release of Pakistan’s jersey, it appeared that this would not be the case at the continental showpiece this year.

Pakistan's cricket team revealed its new jerseys for the Asia Cup and World Cup 2023. The 'Star Nation Jersey' was revealed at a grand ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Monday, August 28 for the ODI WC.

In the video posted by the official Pakistan Cricket Team handle, Mohammad Rizwan interacted with the Nepal players ahead of their Asia Cup 2023 opener in Multan on August 30. It is visible that ‘Pakistan 2023’ is not written on the jerseys of both teams, which indicates that other teams will not display the host country's name on their jerseys.

The jerseys only sport the official Asia Cup logo near the right shoulder without the host country name under it, and it is expected that the other countries will have a similar design on their respective jerseys. Earlier, pictures of Indian stars wearing the jersey with ‘Pakistan’ written on it were doing the rounds on social media and drawing a lot of reactions from fans. Now, it seems, that is not the case.

The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup is set to begin on Wednesday, August 30, with six teams, including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. It is the first time that the tournament will be taking place in a hybrid model, with four games set to take place in Pakistan while the remaining nine matches will be held in Sri Lanka, including the final in Colombo. India will take on Pakistan in their opener on Saturday, September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
