After a famous win in the second Test of the three-match series for Pakistan against England at the Multan Cricket Stadium, a picture of their captain Shan Masood has gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons. In the post-match video uploaded by the official X account of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shan Masood was spotted making a big blunder on the Multan Honours Board, putting the name of Pakistan instead of England in the opposition list.
For the unversed, after suffering a devastating loss by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test of the series against England in Multan, Pakistan made an emphatic comeback in the second Test. On a wearing pitch, the Men in Green set a competitive target of 297 runs for a high flying England batting lineup before bundling them out for just 144 runs, to register a comprehensive win, and level the Test series 1-1 with the final Test set to happen from October 24 onwards in Rawalpindi.
Shan Masood led Pakistan to their first home Test win in nearly four years
After the big win, Shan Masood was asked to fill up the Multan Honours Board with details of their win in the second Test before it was due to be engraved. But, instead of writing England’s name in the opposition list, he mistakenly wrote Pakistan’s name there, prompting the online users to quickly pick up on it once the video came online before criticising Shan Masood and Pakistan’s social media team no end.
Moreover, in Multan, Pakistan also achieved their first Test win at home in nearly four years at the expense of England, which was also their first Test win after six straight defeats. The victory at the Multan Cricket Stadium came on the back of two experienced spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who had made their comebacks together in the Test team after the Pakistan selectors decided to leave out big players from the squad for the final two Tests against England.
