After a disappointing outing the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the Paris Olympics, the Indian shooters continued to disappoint on Saturday, July 27. In the 10m men’s pistol qualification, Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema failed to qualify for the final, finishing at ninth and 18th place, respectively.

Although Sarabjot Singh started with a perfect 10 to keep himself in the qualification hunt, Arjun Singh Cheema landed a 9.5 in his first attempt. However, both were out of the qualification zone as they dropped to 10th (Arjun) and 15th place (Sarabjot) at the end of Series 2, but there was some ray of hope left with Arjun moving to fourth place after Series 3 with the scores of 96, 97, 97, while his compatriot, Sarabjot stood at 10th place.
The Indian youngster, Sarabjot then dropped a perfect 100 in Series 4 while Arjun dropped down in the pecking order with his 95, but with tough competition among the contenders, Sarabjot finished with a 97 in the final series, missing out on the qualification by just one point. On the other hand, Arjun Singh Cheema dropped to 18th place, to bow out of the finals race.
India crash out of medal contention in 10m air rifle mixed team at Paris 2024
The Indian shooters were eliminated in the 10m air rifle mixed team qualifications stage of the Paris Olympics on Saturday, July 27. Ramita and Arjun Babuta finished sixth with a total score of 628.7, while Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh ended at 12th place with an aggregate of 626.3.
The duo of Ramita and Arhun Babuta came close and was placed fifth with three shots remaining but fell 1.0 point short of the medal round cut-off. Babuta enjoyed a fine start in the second relay and had a sequence that read 10.5, 10.6, 10.5, 10.9, while Ramita managed 10.2, 10.7, 10.3, 10.1 in the second series, their effort taking the team into the top 8.
