Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap knocked out of the ongoing Taipei Open 2023 on June 22 after a straight set loss against home favourite and top-seeded L.Y. Su. The Indian ace earlier surpassed his first round challenge as he beat German qualifier Samuel Hsiao.

The former World No. 6 beat his German opponent earlier on day 1 of the tournament 21-15, 21-16, which was also Kashyap’s first win in the main draw of a Super 300 event this year. However, he couldn’t continue his brilliant run of form as he lost 21-16, 21-17 to the Chinese Taipei star in a total of 42 minutes, to end his stint at the Super 300 tournament.

Among others, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian lost tie with Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan 21-13, 21-15.

In the women’s category, Tanya Hemanth was the lone Indian to win singles draw against Agnes Korosi of Hungary 21-7, 21-17. The 19-year-old will next face World champion and Olympic silver medallist Tai Tzu Ying. Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles, pair of Sikki Reddy and Rohan Kapoor will see Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Lin Xiao Min in the pre-quarters after winning over compatriots Navaneeth Bokka and Priya Konjengbam 21-14, 21-17.
