Australia captain, Pat Cummins, who is currently leading the side in the ODI World Cup 2023 in India has opened up on playing T20 cricket. With the team from down under confirming their spot in the semifinals of the flagship tournament in India, the Aussie captain and pace spearhead has opened to put his name for the IPL 2024 auction.

Speaking ahead of the Australia’s semifinal match against South Africa, Cummins opened up to continue leading in the ODI format of the game beyond the World Cup while showing interest to play the IPL 2024. It is to be noted that Cummins had withdrawn his name from the 2023 edition of the IPL. But with the T20 World Cup being the next major ICC event, set to be played in 2024, the pacer aims to excel in the shortest format.

“I feel like I haven’t played a heap of T20 cricket and in some ways, I feel like I haven’t played my best T20 cricket for a little while,” Cummins as quoted by cricket.com.au. “I’m really excited, I’m probably going to go into the IPL auction for next year to try to get some games before that World Cup and push a case to not only make the side but get back to how I feel like I can bowl in T20 cricket,” he further added.

Talking about Australia’s campaign at the ODI World Cup, while the side lot two games to begin their season at the marquee event, they then went on to win seven games on the trot to end the league stage at third place in the standings, finishing after India and South Africa, who finished first and second with 18 and 14 points respectively.
