Australia are hosting the Shan Masood-led Men in Green at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the Boxing Day Test. After being invited to bat first by the visitors, the Pat Cummins-led side posted 318 runs on the board. They thereafter bundled out the Men in Green for 264 runs and added 262 more on the board, taking a considerable lead.
With the Men in Green needing a little more than 150 runs to win, the Day 3 saw also some bizarre scenes on the field. In the 75th over of the third innings with Alex Carey and Pat Cummins in the middle, the Aussie skipper scored five runs off one delivery. The incident took place on the third delivery of the 75th over with Cummins at strike. Aamer Jamal, who was bowling fuller than a length, threw a similar delivery with the Aussie push drive through the cover off the front foot.
While the Pakistani fielders chased the ball to save a boundary the throw came to the bowler’ end and Afridi failed to gather it, giving more runs for the Australians, adding five runs in a single delivery.
