Australia skipper Pat Cummins shared an injury update of attacking batter Travis Head after the completion of the third Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test. The third game of the series played at The Gabba in Brisbane ended in a draw after rain played spoilsport. The series is currently tied at 1–1 as India won the opening Test match, while Australia made a sound comeback in the Adelaide game. During the final day of the game in Brisbane, Aussie batter Travis Head experienced some discomfort with a tight quad.

During the second innings, Head appeared restricted towards the backend and didn’t take on the field before rain paused the game for the final time. While there were a few suspensions that he had a groin problem, the rumours were denied by the Cricket Australia spokesperson. Later, Aussie captain Pat Cummins shared an update about the batter and assured that he would be fine for the forthcoming game in Melbourne. Cummins said, "Trav, he'll be fine, it's a bit of a tight quad, he'll be fine for Melbourne.”

Happy to contribute, nice to get some runs: Travis Head after winning POTM Award

The 30-year-old batter was adjudged Player of the Match for his remarkable knock in Brisbane. After winning the title, Head said, “Feels like I batted quite a while ago to be honest. Happy to contribute, nice to get some runs and set us up in the first innings. Challenging wicket, worked through the gears well, pleased I was able to get through and set the team up. Was trying to sum up the conditions, feel like I've done that well in this series so far, very happy with the tempo I'm batting with.”

He added, “Pretty relaxed communication, feel like he (Smith) was in great rhythm, gives me great confidence when batting with him, was a nice partnership, really enjoyed it. When I first get out there, I try and navigate different challenges, solve different problems. Just a little sore but I should be fine (before the next game).”
