Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is subject to a sporting trial in Italy after facing a drug test in August. Pogba might face a two-year ban from football after testing positive for consuming banned substances. Pogba was provisionally suspended last month after his initial samples showed high levels of testosterone in his body. The Frenchman was randomly picked for testing after Juve's 3-0 win at Udinese on August 20.
After his initial tests, the 30-year-old again tested positive in his counter analysis for using DHEA, which can also help boost the natural production of testosterone. The footballer could also be handed a four-year ban. As per reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba has two options, either to settle with the anti-doping prosecutors and have his suspension cut in half or face the possibility of a sporing trial before the Anti-Doping Sports Tribunal.
The reports further state that if the footballer chooses the first option, he would still need WADA’s clearance and won’t be able to challenge the outcome. The footballer will face a four-year ban if the test reports determine that he took the pills intentionally, and a two-year ban if it is determined that he accidentally consumed the banned substance.
Since Pogba is unable to train with his side Juventus at the moment, he is currently training at home with his personal trainer.
