Current season woes continue to grow for Manchester City as their star striker Erling Halaand picked up an injury in City’s latest FA Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth. After missing three big chances, including a missed penalty, Haaland finally broke the deadlock for the visitors with the first goal of a 2-1 win for Man City. However, 12 minutes after his goal, he had to be subbed off as he wasn’t fit to continue playing. It is now confirmed that Haaland has picked up an ankle injury and will not be available till almost the end of the season for City.

In the pre-match conference for City’s Premier League game against Leicester City, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that Haaland will miss a couple of weeks of action for the club. He said, “The doctors told me between five and seven weeks. So hopefully for the end of the season and FIFA Club World Cup he will be ready”, referring to the time period for which Haaland will be out. The news comes as a big blow for City, who are taking on Leicester in their next game and are also set to face United in a Manchester Derby at Old Trafford at the weekend.

Tough games ahead for City as they eye Champions League spot

All of the Premier League games hold utmost importance for City as currently they are in the fifth place in the points table and will look to push for a Champions League spot in these remaining two months of the season. Apart from the PL, Man City will also play an important FA Cup semi-final match at the end of April where they will miss the services of Erling Haaland.

Haaland has arguably been one of the best players for City in the last few seasons, with his record-breaking goal-scoring feats and match-winning performances. In fact with his recent goal against Bournemouth, Haaland established a record of scoring 30+ goals in all of his three seasons at the Etihad which is a phenomenal record.
