Tamil Nadu leg spinner Varun Chakravarthy shone with a five-wicket haul in Vijay Hazare Trophy play-off against Rajasthan at Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. However, his tremendous bowling efforts went in vain as Rajasthan knocked Tamil Nadu by winning the match by 19 runs and made it into the quarter final of the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. For Rajasthan, opener Abhijeet Tomar scored a match-winning ton against Tamil Nadu.
Batting first, Rajasthan lost their first wicket at th 24 runs in 9.4 overs. After that, skipper Mahipal Lomror joined Abhijeet Tomar at the crease as the duo put up a partnership of 160 runs for the second wicket. Lomror got out after scoring 60(49) runs hitting three fours and four sixes, while Tomar top scored with 111(125) hitting 12 fours and four sixes. Apart from that, Karthi Sharma also scored 35(28) in the middle-order as Rajasthan were bowled out for 267 runs in 47.3 overs.
Varun Chakravarthy takes 5-wicket haul, but Tamil Nadu lose match
In the bowling, Varun Chakravarthy shone with a five-wicket haul as the leg-spinner registered figures of 5/52. Apart from that, skipper Sai Kishore and Sandeep Warrior scalped two wickets each while H Trilok Nag put in his bag. However, their efforts went in vain as Tamil Nadu failed to chase the target of 268 runs.
Chasing the winning target, Narayan Jagadeesan top scored for Tamil Nadu with 65 runs off 52 ball hitting 10 fours. Apart from that, Vijay Shankar also contributed with 49(69) runs, while Baba Inddrajith and S Mohamed Ali scored 37 and 34 respectively. However, none of the batters could play a big knock as Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 248 runs in 47.1 overs. For Rajasthan, Aman Singh Rajendra Singh Shekhawat took three scalps, Aniket Choudhary and Kukna Ajay Singh scalped two wickets each, while Khaleel Ahmed put one in his bag.
