As tensions rise in Paris Saint-Germain between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr., the club has taken formal action to address these issues in the squad. Mbappe, before the start of the season, signed a new three-year contract with the Parisians in May, but he has been seen as a frustrated figure at Parc des Princes in the early days of the 2022-23 season.

Reports suggests that the Frenchman believes that he deserves more respect in the dressing room, and he took out his frustration on Neymar as the Brazilian's influence appears to grow. After their recent penalty dispute has massively affected their relationship, PSG held a team meeting asking for any internal issues to remain behind closed doors. In other words, the club want Mbappe and Neymar to appear happy in front of the public.

Addressing the issue between their players, PSG manager Christophe Galtier talked about how Mbappe wants to keep improving after missing a few games. “Kylian played his last game three weeks ago so I knew it was going to be tough on a physical level for him,” the manager said. “He's a competitor. He wants to be good and he wants to be good quickly, but a top footballer is not on and off like that... it takes a little time to regain 100 per cent of his athletic abilities.”

"When he's at 100%, he'll make the difference even more. These are players who like to score, who want to score, who attack. It's a bit normal for him to be disappointed at being a little short physically compared to his teammates," Galtier added.

On the other hand, midfielder Marco Verratti also admitted that Mbappe was upset about missing the penalty. “With the penalty, he sulked a bit but that's normal. He's a great player, he wants to make a difference," he added. "It's good when he's angry, it means he cares about this team.”

Despite these frictions, PSG registered a 5-2 win over Montpellier where Neymar Jr. scored twice along with goals from Mbappe, Renato Sanches. In PSG's win, Montpellier’s Falaye Sacko also registered a own goal.
