Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, is reportedly going to travel to Paris to compete at the French Open later this month. Notably, in the build-up to the second Grand Slam of the season, the 37-year-old has been indecisive about playing at Roland Garros, especially after his loss to Hubert Hurkacz in the second round of the Italian Open.
The French Open 2024 edition is set to be played from May 20 to June 9 at Roland Garros, where Novak Djokovic will defend his men’s singles title. It is arguably considered as the toughest and most physically demanding tournament in the sport.
As per the report from AS, Rafael Nadal is going to continue with his training at the Mallorcan Academy before he heads to Paris next week to play in the French Open.
Notably, after losing to Hubert Hurkacz 6-1, 6-3 in Rome, Rafael Nadal remarked, “Probably one is to say, Okay, I am not ready, I am not playing enough well. Then is the moment to take a decision in terms of not playing Roland Garros.”
“Another is to accept how I am today and work the proper way to try to be in a different way in two weeks. The decision, as you can imagine, is not clear in my mind today. But if I have to say what's my feeling and if my mind is closer one way or the other way, I going to say [I will] be in Roland Garros and try my best,” he added.
