Veteran Indian all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, on Sunday, June 30 announced retirement from T20 Internationals. His decision came just hours after India’s T20 World Cup 2024 win in Barbados, where they defeated South Africa by seven runs to get their hands on the coveted title. After the announcement, he joined Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma, who also announced their retirement just after winning the trophy.
Taking to social media, Jadeja called off curtains to his career in the shortest format. “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always give my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats,” Jadeja wrote on Instagram.
“Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, the unwavering support. Jai hind,” he concluded.
The 35-year-old draws curtains to his T20I career having made his debut in 2009 against Sri Lanka. Since then, he has played a total of 74 matches, scoring 515 runs and scalping 54 wickets in the shortest format of the game.
