On Monday, November 18, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made an announcement that they have appointed Omkar Salvi as the new bowling coach of their men’s team ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The 46-year-old has been quite a sought after name in the cricketing circuit recently after being a part of the coaching staff of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when they won their third IPL title earlier this year.

Omkar Salvi played a major role for Mumbai during their Ranji Trophy win in the 2023-24 season, which was their first such triumph in eight years despite being a 41-time champions previously. Just a month ago, in the early stages of the 2024-25 season, Salvi was also in the coaching staff of Mumbai, who ended up defeating the Rest of India in the Irani Cup tie.

We're thrilled to welcome Omkar Salvi as RCB's Bowling Coach: Mo Bobat

As per the report from Cricbuzz, Omkar Salvi is expected to start his stint as the bowling coach of RCB after the conclusion of the ongoing Indian domestic season of cricket. Following the appointment of the Mumbaikar as one of the members of the coaching staff, the Director of Cricket of RCB, Mo Bobat, remarked that he is hopeful Omkar Salvi will work wonders with the bowlers in the team, to help them win the elusive IPL title at long last.

Mo Bobat was quoted as saying, “We're thrilled to welcome Omkar Salvi as RCB's Bowling Coach. With his vast experience, especially in developing fast bowlers, and proven success at the domestic and IPL levels, he's the perfect fit for our coaching team. Omkar's technical expertise, local knowledge and leadership will add huge value to our squad and environment.”

In the build-up to the IPL 2025 season, Omkar Salvi will start his job as the RCB bowling coach with a familiar face in the camp, who is none other than Dinesh Karthik as these two have already worked alongside each other at KKR.
