Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued their winning form in IPL 2024 after registering a four-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans. After a dismal start to their 2024 campaign, RCB are still in the playoffs race as they have stitched up three back-to-back wins. On the other hand, the Titans have hit a massive dip by suffering four losses in their last five games.
Playing at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers won the toss and rocked Gujarat with an incredible opening bowling burst. The Titans were reduced to 19-3 in 5.3 overs before Shahrukh Khan and David Miller started the repair job. The duo added a 61-run stand before GT had another collapse losing both Miller and Khan in quick succession.
Finishing up the first innings, Gujarat saw contributions from Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan and Vijay Shankar to take their total to 147. For RCB, the Indian pace bowling trio of Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up two wickets to bundle out GT in 19.3 overs.
Chasing this smallish total, Bengaluru had a blistering start with Virat Kohli and Captain Faf du Plessis combining to post 92 runs in the powerplay. But after Faf's dismissal at the score of 64 in 23 balls, RCB had a massive collapse as they lost their next five wickets while scoring just 25 runs. But after this blunderous performance, Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh finished off the game with some quick boundaries in the 13.4 overs to register a four-wicket win.
