8. Only the second bowler to take 1000 wickets in International cricket
Shane Warne has taken a total of 1001 wickets in his international career (708 in Test and 293 in ODIs) which makes him to be the only second bowler to have taken 1000-plus wickets in international cricket after M. Muralitharan.
Shane Warne while playing his last Test match of his career for Australia in January 2007 in Sydney against England, went onto achieve this milestone. He has taken 999 wickets for Australia and 2 wickets in an ODI match between ICC World XI vs Asia XI in Melbourne (Jan 2005).
Most wickets in international cricket:
Muralitharan - 1347
Shane Warne - 1001
James Anderson - 977
Warne remains to be the second highest wicket-taker in Test and international cricket. Notably, Shane Warne is the one of the bowlers to have taken 1000-plus wickets in international cricket other than Muralitharan.
