After a poor show in the first India innings of the MCG Test, skipper Rohit Sharma continued his dismal form as he was dismissed at the score of nine off 40 deliveries. This came at a crucial moment when India were chasing a mammoth target of 340 runs on the final day of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at MCG, adding worries to his form.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma provided a decent start at the top of the order to the visitors in the chase, playing more than 15 overs without losing any wicket. But on the first ball of the 17th over, Australia skipper Pat Cummins got the prized wicket of Rohit Sharma, with Mitchell Marsh holding to a catch.

This much-needed breakthrough for Australia, left India reeling in the middle, followed by KL Rahul’s dismissal, who also departed in the same over. With Rohit Sharma having yet another dismal outing in the middle in the ongoing BGT series, fans were left visibly upset, fuming at the Indian skipper and urging him to call it quits from the longest format of the game.
Not only this, fans also hit out at Virat Kohli, who has got decent runs on the board from the four Tests so far, having amassed 167 runs from six innings so far in the series down under. While some fans claimed that “they are themselves responsible for ruining their legacy”, a few others wished the duo “Happy retirement”.
