The Men in Blue after the culmination of the ODI World Cup 2023 will take on Australia at home and then tour South Africa for a multi-format series, later at the end of the year in December 2023. The Men in Blue will travel to the rainbow nation after two years wait, starting from a T20I series, followed by a three-match ODI series and a Test series.

However, as reported by Times Now, skipper Rohit Sharma and senior player Virat Kohli will be rested for the ODI series with KL Rahul taking over the captaincy reigns. This comes with Virat and Rohit likely now focusing on the longest format of the game and T20 cricket with the T20 World Cup 2024 coming ahead. It is to be noted that KL Rahul, vice-captained the side in the ODI World Cup 2023 after Hardik Pandya was ruled out with ankle injury from CWC 2023

Nothing is confirmed yet but as per reports, Shubman Gill is likely to vice-captain the side, with the inclusion of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Jadeja, Shardul, Jasprit Bumrah, Shami and Siraj, all being the prominent faces.
