India took on Zimbabwe in their last league game of the T20 World Cup 2022 and defeated the Chevrons by 71 runs to finish at the top of the table of Group 2. Batting first, India put on a hefty 186/5, courtesy a blistering knock from Suryakumar Yadav. The middle-order batter once again showed his class as he scored 61* off just 25 balls. Yadav showed no mercy on Zimbabwe bowlers as he hit six boundaries and four sixes in his inning.

The Rohit Sharma-led team then bowled Zimbabwe out for only 115 to register an emphatic victory. Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened the floodgates as he dismissed Wesley Madhevere for a golden duck. Arshdeep Singh then got rid of Regis Chakabva. Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami too joined the party as they bagged two wickets apiece. R Ashwin then piled up on the misery as he scalped three wickets.

Eventually, it was a win for the Men in Blue. As India and Zimbabwe players were shaking hands after the match was over, a fan invaded the pitch and came running towards Rohit Sharma. However, the security personnel were alert and caught him midway. The Rohit Sharma fan was then escorted out of the ground. And as per reports coming, he has been fined as well.

It’s reported that the individual has been fined a whopping amount of INR 6.5 Lakh for not maintaining the discipline set for spectators. Notably, Cricket Australia (CA) has adopted strict measures to tackle pitch invasions.

Coming back to the match and Team India, Rohit Sharma and his men have buried the horrors of 2021 when they failed to reach the knockout stage. India have qualified for the semifinals after winning four of their five league games. They will now face England in the semifinal and will hope to win the title.
