The Indian cricket team is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2023, held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan from August 30 to September 17. Ahead of the grand tournament, the Indian contingent underwent the mandatory yo-yo test, which is a fitness test for athletes. The yo-yo test looks mainly at the endurance and stamina of a player by making him run between two cones at increasing speeds.

According to reports, all the players who took the test on Thursday at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru cleared it successfully. The BCCI has set a minimum score of 16.5 for the players to be eligible for selection.  Virat Kohli had already announced his impressive score of 17.2 through his Instagram story, after which all the players received a verbal warning regarding disclosing such confidential information on social media.

It has now been revealed that Captain Rohit and vice-captain Hardik have also cleared the yo-yo test without any difficulties. Their exact score, however, is not yet available to the public and is not likely to be released. "The tests were successful, and the reports will be sent to the BCCI soon," a source following the tests told PTI.

KL Rahul is unlikely to give the test since he is recovering from a long-term injury, and the cricketers who were a part of the Ireland series are also unlikely to take the yo-yo test. The wicketkeeper-batsman will miss the initial stage of the Asia Cup, during which his situation is going to be monitored. Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Verma, Prasidh Krishna, and Sanju Samson (backup) are also part of the Asia Cup and will not give the Yo-Yo test. It is not yet known if the Asian Games squad will take the test.

The medical condition of all the cricketers will also be evaluated with several parameters like lipid profile, blood sugar (fasting and PP), uric acid, calcium, vitamins B12 and D, creatinine, testosterone, and Dexa tests during the six-day camp. After the fitness and medical tests, the squad is likely to play match simulations in the last two days of the training camp under the supervision of head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour.
