The inaugural edition of the South African T20 League is set to take place next year in the month of January-February 2023. Six-franchise affair is being regarded as the next big thing in terms of franchise cricket leagues in the world with IPL-bound corporates already secured the rights to own all the franchises in the upcoming league.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape, owned by India’s Sun TV Network, which is one of the largest media groups in India and operating Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in Indian Premier League, came to the auction with the pre-acquisition of players like Aiden Markram, and Ottneil Baartman. The franchise broke the bank in their first bid of the evening only as they secured the services of Marco Jansen for a whopping Rs. 6.10 million, followed by whopping signings of wicketkeeper batter Tristan Stubbs for Rs. 9.2 million.
