India created history after they won gold medals in both men’s and women’s category in the 45th Chess Olympiad. This turned out to be a huge milestone for India as they clinched the gold medal for the first time in 45 years in the Chess Olympiad's history. Firstly, the men’s team featuring Vidit Gujrathi, Arjun Erigaisi, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Pentala Harikrishna and D Gukesh ended India’s 97-year wait to win first-ever gold in Chess Olympiad.
After that, the women’s team with likes of Divya Deshmukh, D Harika, Tania Sachdev, Vaishali Rameshbabu, and Vantika Agrawal doubled the celebration by winning the second gold for India in Chess Olympiad 2024 in Budapest, Hungary. After the historic achievement for India, many popular celebrities and sports personalities sent their congratulatory messages to the Indian chess team.

Apart from that, Indian chess legend Vishwanathan Anand also shared few posts to celebrate India’s iconic win.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also sent his congratulatory message to the Indian team through a post where he wrote, “Congratulations to our incredible Men's and Women's Chess Teams. This remarkable achievement marks a new chapter in India's sports trajectory. May this success inspire generations of chess enthusiasts to excel in the game.”
