Former India cricketer and legend of the game, Sachin Tendulkar recently spotted a young schoolgirl, comparing her effortless action with that of former India pacer Zaheer Khan. Taking to X (formerly called Twitter), the ‘God of Cricket’ praised a young girl for his smooth bowling action.
The young girl is named Sushila Meena, who hails from a village in Rajasthan. The budding fast bowler got special mention from Sachin Tendulkar, who compared her with none other than the legendary Zaheer Khan. What made it even more special was a reaction from Khan, which has been doing rounds on social media.
Zaheer Khan’s “promising” reaction surfaces for Sushila Meena
Taking to X, Sachin Tendulkar shared a video of Sushila Meena bowling barefoot in a village ground in Rajasthan wearing a school dress. He called Meena's left-arm bowling action “smooth, effortless lovely to watch”. He also tagged Zaheer Khan, and said that her bowling action had shades of him. "Smooth, effortless, and lovely to watch! Sushila Meena’s bowling action has shades of you, @ImZaheer. Do you see it too?" Sachin captioned the post.
However, this special mention in itself was of more than a thousand praises, Zaheer Khan also could not go unnoticed as he responded to this. Commenting on Sachin’s post, Zaheer Khan called his former India teammate’s analysis as spot on. "@sachintendulkar You’re spot on with that, and I couldn’t agree more. Her action is so smooth and impressive—she’s showing a lot of promise already!" he replied.
Tendulkar’s acknowledgement in itself is a mark of encouragement, recognising the young and budding talent across the nation. Moreover, getting paise from Zaheer Khan, who has been India’s most celebrated fast bowler is a cherry on top. Speaking of Khan, the former pacer made his India debut in 2000 and became a backbone, finishing with 311 Test wickets and 282 ODI dismissals to his name.
