PUBG Mobile, a popular battle royale survival game, has become the first mobile game to cross the $100 million all-time prize pool after the recently concluded PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024. Launching in 2018, the esports structure of the game is regarded as one of the best in the industry, with a lot of regional and global events each year.
PUBG Mobile crosses $100 million all-time prize pool
According to EsportsCharts, PUBG Mobile has featured a total of $100.09 million in prize pools for a total of 1657 tournaments. With this, PUBG Mobile became the first mobile game to achieve this feat and clinched the fifth spot in all-time esports games by prize pool after Dota 2, Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and League of Legends.
PUBG Mobile breaks the record of Honor of Kings, which featured an all-time prize pool of $88.17 million. Publishers Krafton and Tencent organize many events each year for PUBG Mobile.
In 2024, the game featured a total of 160 tournaments with an overall prize pool of $16.17 million. The recently concluded PUBG Mobile Global Championship 2024 alone had a prize pool of $3.00 million.
In its launch year, PUBG Mobile hosted 12 tournaments with a total prize pool of $0.87 million. In 2019, the number of tournaments increased to 104, with a total prize pool of $4.12 million. The years 2020, 2021, and 2022 were great for PUBG Mobile Esports, with 348, 361, and 250 tournaments, respectively, and prize pools of over $8.99 million, $22.99 million, and $24.86 million. In 2023, there were 322 tournaments with a prize pool of $22.10 million.
