Former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza embarked upon a sacred journey to Hajj after almost six months of separation with husband, Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. Mirza, regarded as torchbearer of women’s tennis in India recently appeared as a pundit for the French Open 2024. Mirza took to social media to announce that she has been gearing up for an experience of lifetime, and hopes to be a better human before returning.
The 37-year-old took to social media to announce, "I have been blessed with the incredible opportunity to embark on the sacred journey of Hajj. As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings.” Sania further said that she is grateful for her chance of ‘spiritual renewal’ and prayed for the Almighty to accept her prayers.
She wrote, “My heart is filled with gratitude for this chance to seek redemption and spiritual renewal. I pray that Allah accepts my prayers and guides me on this blessed path. I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful.” She further urged her fans to keep her in prayers. Mirza stated, “Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime. I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger imaan.”
Notably, Mirza put an end to her 20-year-old career in February 2023 when she played her last game at the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships.
