Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a close one-wicket defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday, March 24. However, the defeat would have hurt a lot for the LSG players, it was Ashutosh Sharma, whose unbeaten 31-ball 66 overpowered Nicholas Pooran (75) and Mitchell Marsh’s (72) knocks.
Well it was a disappointing start for the Super Giants, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, who was a record buy, attracting INR 27 Crore deal, was seen getting into an intense talk on the sidelines of the match. Although, the video went viral in no time, with several reminding a similar incident which took place with their former skipper KL Rahul, the LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka has finally broken silence on the same.
Intensity of the ground, camaraderie off it: Sanjiv Goenka after LSG’s 1-wicket defeat vs DC
In the viral videos making waves on social media, Rishabh Pant was seen having a discussion with head coach Justin Langer and team owner Sanjiv Goenka. The incident got fans down the memory lane, recalling Goenka’s heated discussion with KL Rahul. But the LSG owner, on Tuesday, March 25 took to social media to share pictures of the interaction along with a positive caption.
“Intensity on the ground, camaraderie off it. Looking ahead to the next one,” Sanjiv Goenka’s post was captioned. With this, the LSG owner not only silenced his critics, but also hope for a better result in the next one.
Speaking of LSG’s match, DC won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. On the back of a 70-plus runs knocks from Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran, the side posted 209 in the 20 overs. As they aimed to defend the total, their bowlers looked good, picking wickets at crucial intervals, but quick cameos from Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam helped DC chase the total in a nail-biting thriller.
However, the Rishabh Pant-led side will aim to overturn their result from the last match and get their first points in the next match, where they will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, March 27.
