Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan launched a lethal attack on teammate and opener Tamim Iqbal. Iqbal hit out at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after he was dropped from the World Cup 2023 squad. Iqbal took to Facebook to rant out at the BCB and said that the board created a difficult atmosphere for him. Not only this, but the batter also said that a top official from the board asked him to bat down the order.

The Bangladesh skipper was in conversation with T-Sports, a Dhaka-based TV channel, where he said the official thought of the team when he made the suggestion to Iqbal. Hasan told the TV channel, "I am sure whoever has said it, he thought of the team. A lot of things go into building a combination for a match. So, if someone has said this to him, was it wrong? Or we can't make such a proposal? I am just going to tell someone that you can do whatever you want. Is the team first or the individual?"

Not only this, but Hasan didn’t hold himself back from calling the fellow cricketer ‘childish’ and ‘selfish’. Hasan commented, "Someone like Rohit Sharma built his career from No. 7 to opener, scored 10,000-plus runs. If he sometimes bats at No. 3 or 4, would it be a big problem? It is totally childish. It is my bat, I will play. No one else can play."

Shakib added, "You are not thinking about the team at all. People don't understand these things. Why was the proposal given to him?"

Shakib Al Hasan plans to announce his retirement after 2025 Champions Trophy

The Bangladesh captain threw a light on his retirement plans and said that he will draw curtains on his international career after the 2025 Champions Trophy. The cricketer also said that he plans to call it quits on his T20I career after the 2024 T20 World Cup, whereas is considering the ODI World Cup as his last assignment before quitting Test cricket.

The Kolkata Knight Riders player commented, "The 2025 Champions Trophy for ODIs and the 2024 T20 World Cup for T20Is. Tests may be sooner. Maybe (after the World Cup)," Shakib said. "I will retire all at once, but I will stop playing each format one by one. I will announce my retirement after the 2025 Champions Trophy."
