In the sixth round of the Sinquefield Cup 2024 in Saint Louis, Indian Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa held Ding Liren from China in a King’s Indian Defense game. His compatriot Dommaraju Gukesh played out an exciting draw against French Grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, with all these four players tied in fourth place on the leaderboard with three points each.

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa employed the King’s Indian Defence, aiming to go after the king of Ding Liren, sacrificing an exchange and a pawn. Although Ding Liren managed to weather the storm with his dynamic play, utilising the exchanges to a good effect, to get to an equal ending with opposite-coloured bishops on the board.

With that, world champion Ding Liren and Rameshbabu Praggnanadhaa kept themselves in the mix to win the Sinquefield Cup 2024 in Saint Louis.

The clash involving the other Indian Grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh saw him win a pawn in the cleverest of fashions, but his opponent Maxime Vachier-Lagrave swifty countered on the kingside. It led to Gukesh initiating a plethora of exchanges before he managed to draw the game with the help of his queenside passed pawns as Vachier-Lagrave pressed for a win.

In the round seven, Dommaraju Gukesh will be taking on American Fabiano Caruana, while Rameshbabu Praggananandhaa is going to take on Russia's Ian Nepomniachtchi.
