Indian cricketers including wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan and India Women’s star batter Smriti Mandhana featured in the latest episode of the renowned quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which is hosted by the star celebrity and icon of the Indian Bollywood industry, Amitabh Bachchan.
However, they decided to conclude their journey on the show with the 13th question, which carried a prize money of INR 25 Lakh, they were in a situation of turmoil before in a question which related to the sport they play - cricket. In the 12th question, the Indian cricketing duo were asked on who made their Test debut in the match where Sachin Tendulkar scored his first international century. It is to be noted that Sachin's maiden international ton came against England in Manchester.
Ishan and Smriti were in a fix as they thought of the answer which consisted of Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Sourav Ganguly and Javagal Srinath as the four options. With one lifeline already exhausted, the duo opted to sought assistance through “call of friend” but survived a tough call, picking Srinath, who was the wrong pick.
However, using the final lifeline available, the two Indian cricketers finally picked the correct answer as they called for Anil Kumble.
While Ishan Kishan recently pulled out of the South Africa Test series, reportedly citing mental fatigue, Smriti played a crucial role in India Women’s historic win over Australia Women in the one-off Test at the Wankhede Stadium. The Indian opener will now take on the reins as deputy to Harmanpreet Kaur in the ODI and T20I series, starting Thursday, December 28.
