India are now all over Bangladesh in the first Test at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After taking a mammoth lead of 227 runs in the first innings, India declared their second innings on 287/4, giving Bangladesh a huge target of 515 runs to win the first Test. The stars of the second innings for India were Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill, who scored respective centuries on day three and put up a partnership of 167 runs as India set a mammoth target for Bangladesh. 

After bowling Bangladesh out for 149 runs, India didn’t have a great start in the second innings as they lost three wickets for 67 runs. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to score big runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored half-century in the first innings also got out for just 10 runs. After that Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill took charge of the innings.

Coming to bat at 67/3, Rishabh Pant went on to take on Bangladesh bowlers along with Shubman Gill. Playing his first Test since December 2022, Pant went on to score his sixth Test hundred on the fourth day. The left-hander got out after scoring 109(128) runs, hitting 13 fours and four sixes. After a few overs, Shubman Gill also brought up his 12th international hundred (5th in Test).

Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 119*(176) run with 10 fours and four sixes before captain Rohit Sharma decided to call off the Indian innings at the score of 287/4 after 64 overs.
