Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning ways after losing two games by beating the Rajasthan Royals by one run in a thrilling contest. With this victory, SRH became just the second team in IPL 2024 to beat the Royals, who now have eight wins and two losses from ten games. On the other hand, Hyderabad jumped to the fourth spot with six wins and four losses.
Talking about the game, Sunrisers won the toss and started streakily with the bat. After losing two quick wickets and a quiet powerplay, Travis Head and Nitish Reddy rebuilt the innings for SRH. Head completed his half-century before getting out while Reddy held his end and went on to post the highest score of his T20 career.
The Andhra all-rounder combined with Henrich Klassen to post a 70-run stand and take the total to 201. Reddy finished with 76 in 42 while Klassen had a 19-ball 42. Then in the second innings, Rajasthan also had a horrific start after losing Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson when the score was one.
Then the young duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag combined to post a 134-run stand and rescue Rajasthan after the poor start. But quick wickets from T Natarajan and Pat Cummins turned the game in SRH's favour. Then as the game went down to the wire, RR needed 12 runs in the over where Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 11 and took Rovman Powell's wicket on the last ball to seal the win for Hyderabad.
