SunRisers Hyderabad’s decision to bench Rahul Tripathi in their back-to-back matches sparked fans' outrage on social media. SunRisers Hyderabad travelled to Ahmedabad to play against Gujarat Titans in the 12th encounter of the IPL 2024 on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Orange Army came up with the same team as their last match and decided to bench their young batter Rahul Tripathi once again.
Earlier, the SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and said, “We are gonna have a bat, looks like a good wicket so we want to put runs on the board. Don't know about that, but good, wonderful memories back here and it's a packed stadium as well. We scored the highest score ever, we are very capable of that but it's not going to happen always. If we have a good crack, we might get close to it again. Same team for us.”
Fans were quick to point out Tripathi’s absence from the squad, and once their opener Mayank Agarwal was dismissed on 16 runs off 17 deliveries, they suggested that Tripathi should have played instead of Mayank. Here’s how fans reacted to his snub from the playing XI.
Coming back to the match, SRH posted a total of 162 runs off eight wickets in 20 overs.
