Australia is set to lock horns with West Indies in the second and final Test of the two-match series, starting December 8. The Pat Cummins-led side beat the Caribbean side by 164 runs in the first Test, which took place in Perth from Nov 30 to December 4, 2022.

Ahead of the second Test, the hosts have been dealt with a major blow as their skipper Pat Cummins has been ruled out with an injury. Cummins failed to regain fitness from a thigh strain he picked up during the opening Test in Perth. However, Cricket Australia has named Scott Boland as his replacement for the scheduled second Test.

“Team medical staff commenced Cummins’ recovery in Adelaide, but selectors deemed there was not sufficient time for the fast bowler to be fully fit for the match, which starts tomorrow,” read Cricket Australia in a statement.
