Former WWE champion Stone Cold Steve Austin made his return to the ring and defeated Kevin Ownes in a No Holds Barred match at Wrestlemania 38. The Texas Rattlesnake kicked out off Owen’s stunner before landing his own patented ‘Stone Cold Stunner’ to win the bout. Wrestling's Worst Nightmare had called out Austin on a segment of the K.O. Show in March 2022.

Soon, Owens got his wish full filled as Stone Cold accepted his challenge and was ready for the match of dreams at Wrestlemania. Austin said, “19 years ago, I wrestled my last match in a WWE ring,” he says. “After three rock bottoms, one, two, three, I lost the match. And for 19 years, I’ve had to live with that defeat, knowing my time was up. Kevin Owens, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for waking something up deep inside me that I’ve kept buried for 19 years.”

“Ever since you started running that d‐‐‐‐ mealy-mouth of yours talking about the state of Texas, the great state of Texas, you got my attention. And why would you want to do that, Kevin? I can think of two reasons.

“No. 1, You are one dumb son of a b----. And No. 2, You are fixing to get your a‐‐ kicked by ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.”

"KO is outstanding," - Stone Cold

After winning his match, Stone Cold had some words of praise for his younger opponent and also thanked all the fans for supporting him in this journey. He said,  "I came here looking for anything. This is where I started. I was lucky enough to finish here. KO is outstanding, and he ran his mouth a little too much, and it caught up with him. But it was really an honour to be here on such a stacked card with so many great matches," said Steve Austin.

"You love the crowd, and the guys and girls before me had so many great matches. It's really hard to follow that, but you live and die by that crowd, and this crowd is so faithful. So rambunctious, they are behind everything you do.”

“So, I give a shout-out to the WWE Superstars that worked before me and the ones working tomorrow night. But I give the biggest shout-out to the crowd because I never expected to be able to headline a WrestleMania at this day and time. It's all about the WWE Universe. Thank you, and you take care because that's the bottom line because we said so."
