KL Rahul, the Lucknow Super Giants captain, had a hilarious interaction with the social media influencer, Shubham Gaur, after his team defeated Gujarat Titans by 33 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. During their brief chat, Shubham Gaur engaged in banter with KL Rahul about his strike-rate, which the LSG captain had happily acknowledged seconds prior.
At the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the LSG captain led the team to their third straight win of the IPL 2024 against GT, reaching third place in the IPL standings. After posting a decent score of 163/5 in their allotted overs, the bowling attack of Lucknow Super Giants had delivered one of the best bowling performances of the season, with Yash Thakur and Krunal Pandya picking up five and three wickets each.
In the backstage video shared by Lucknow Super Giants on their official X account, Shubman Gaur said to KL Rahul, “Congrats, Rahul bhai. I think you should become India's next Defence Minister.” In response, the LSG captain said, “You are also making fun of the strike rate,” to which the social media influencer remarked, “No, No, you are successfully defending scores in the range of 160s. That's why.”
Notably, the strike-rate of KL Rahul in the IPL and the limited overs cricket has been a major point of contention among the fans and the experts in recent times. In his previous innings in the IPL 2024, the right-handed batter scored 33 off 31 balls with just three fours, which was far from an ideal scoring rate for LSG, but it didn’t matter much in the eventual scheme of things.
