As the IPL 2025 progresses, the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will take on five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in Monday, March 31. However, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side will be high on confidence seeing their eight-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous match, they have also been bloostered with the return of West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine.
It is to be noted that the veteran international missed the side’s match against RR in IPL 2025 owing to ill-health. It was reported that Narine was ill on the monring of KKR’s last game, and Moeen Ali replaced him in the XI. Moeen Ali did well with the ball, sending back Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana to finish with the figures of 2/23 in his four overs. With the bat, Moeen Ali struggled as he could only get five runs off 12 balls.
Sunil Narine is at training: KKR shares BIG update
But ahead of KKR’s next match, where they will travel to Mumbai to take on MI, the franchise confirmed that Sunil Narine is back training with the side. “He is at training, with the rest of the team at Wankhede,” KKR said in a statement to the media.
It is to be seen that Sunil Narine’s return will be significant for the Knight Riders, given his vast experience and ability to change the game with both bat and ball. In the season opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Narine scored 44 runs with the bat and picked a wicket.
The Ajinkya Rahane-led side are reeling in the second half of the points table, at seventh place in IPL 2025 points table. From two matches, they have won one and lost one and have a negative NRR of -0.308
