Former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina is set to join Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. LSG had another solid 2023 as the second-year franchise finished fourth after making the playoff for the second consecutive time. Since the end of the season, LSG has undergone multiple changes in its coaching staff.

Former Australia batter and head coach, Justin Langer, replaced veteran coach Andy Flower while mentor and ex-India opener, Gautam Gambhir left the franchise to join his former teammate Kolkata Knight Riders. Now as a replacement for Gambhir, Suresh Raina is slated to join the Lucknow-based franchise. 

The development surfaced after a fan expressed shared a rumour of Raina joining LSG as a mentor, but a senior journalist retweeted the post and debunked his claims. Suprisingly , the ex-Indian cricketer replied to the post and sarcastically hit back at the journalist stating that every news that is posted is fake. “Why? Your news can’t be rite all the time?” Raina wrote on X.

Raina has been an absolute  IPL  legend with a tally of  5528 runs in 205 matches at an average of 32.52 and a 136.76 strike rate. Nicknamed Mr IPL, Raina is best known for his time with the Chennai Super Kings where he played a crucial role in four title-winning seasons.
