Suryakumar Yadav , the Indian T20I captain, has reportedly received an unofficial offer from KKR to take over the captaincy of the franchise in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The 33-year-old has been amongst the best T20 batters in the world in the last few years, and his potential inclusion could take defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders to a whole new level in the IPL next year.
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav was a part of Kolkata Knight Riders from 2014 to 2017, scoring 608 runs in 54 matches at an average of 22.52 and a strike-rate of 131.89. In his first season with KKR in 2014, he won his first IPL title after defeating PBKS, then known as KXIP, in a last over thriller in Bengaluru.
After re-signing with Mumbai Indians in 2018, Suryakumar Yadav took his cricketing career to the next level individually apart from winning multiple IPL titles. He broke into the Indian cricket team in 2021, and has not looked back since, becoming the T20I captain after winning the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
With his rising stocks in the cricketing world, there have been a few rumours around Suryakumar Yadav leaving Mumbai Indians in the last couple of months. Rohit Juglan of Revspotz has reported that Suryakumar Yadav has received an unofficial offer from KKR for captaincy in the IPL 2025 season.
In the next few months before the IPL 2025 auction commences, it will be very interesting to see where Suryakumar Yadav ends up playing the next season of the Indian franchise T20 tournament.
