Star India batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the opening round of 2024-25 Duleep Trophy after he sustained a hand injury during Mumbai’s Buchi Babu Invitational tournament clash against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) XI in Coimbatore. The 33-year-old, as reported by ESPNcricinfo has been advised rest, however he has resumed recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar Yadav, who walked out of the field after just 10 deliveries into the innings, did not also bat in the second innings last week. After the incident, the Mumbai team management confirmed the move was a precautionary measure and his injury will be assessed keeping in mind his participation in the Duleep Trophy. However, a report by PTI confirmed that Suryakumar Yadav will miss the opening round of the red-ball tournament.
